Funny People

This weekend box office belong to the comedian as Funny People leading the way. Funny People drew $22,7 million in estimated 4,100 screen at 3,700 sites, which is very less than Judd Apatow’s previous picture, Knocked Up and even behind the 40 Year Old Virgin as the first movie of the director in term of attendance. If we talking about the lead star which is Adam Sandler, it’s the poor one debut of his comedies, but much bigger than his past drama, The Universal Picture Distributor exit polling was indicate that 53% of audience was male and 52% was female. And the grade from opening night on CinemaScore was a “B-”

Funny People come off as an industry exercise in its marketing and these films are often greeted with indifference films (including films about past comedians like Punchline and Mr. Saturday Night). Many of the ads just introduced Sandler, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill and other hanging and proclaimed to be “funny people”, assuming that their presence was enough to excite the public. If one has to tell the public that people are funny (not), then they are not funny people . Ultimately, advertising is reduced to a few pop culture jokes (about Harry Potter, Die Hard, YouTube, etc) without the humor and stories of the Virgin and Knocked Up

And along with other nationwide releases it is sadly, Alien in the Attic crash in $8 million at 3,106 sites, The Collector nabbed in 3,6 million at 1,325 sited, which is better than P2, Captivity, and High Tension.
These are the top ten Box Office:

1. Funny People
2. Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
3. G-Force
4. The Ugly Truth
5. Aliens in the Attic
6. Orphan
7. Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs
8. The Hangover
9. The Proposal
